2011 Printz Award Winners...Are 'Just In'

Thanks to our friends at the Junior Library Guild (who have a great track record at forecasting these things), we already have on-hand within our YA collection the just announced 2011 Printz Award winning book "Ship Breaker" and two of the Printz Honor Books -- "Please Ignore Vera Dietz" and "Revolver".  (These titles are available for checkout from our YA collections at the Main and South Campuses.)

“Ship Breaker,” written by Paolo Bacigalupi, has won the 2011 Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature.  In “Ship Breaker,” near a drowned New Orleans ravaged by hurricanes and global warming, Nailer and his young crew eke out a meager existence by scavenging materials on the ship-littered coast.  “This taut, suspenseful novel is a relentless adventure story featuring nuanced characters in thought-provoking conflicts. Bacigalupi artfully intertwines themes of loyalty, family, friendship, trust and love,” said Printz Award Committee Chair Erin Downey Howerton.
